After two weeks of negotiation, back and forth, nail-biting, and auction that went on a day longer than expected, I've signed with Little, Brown and Company to write a book about contemplative computing.

It goes without saying that I'm tremendously excited about this latest development, and am really looking forward to getting to work full-time on the book. I'm already dreaming about writing it– a good sign that my subconscious is already working through technical issues and structural stuff.

One of the great unexpected twists in the process was that lots of presses passed on the grounds that there are already lots of books about technology and distraction, and they couldn't see how the market could accommodate another high-concept tome. The ones who DID like the project, though, loved it; and the editors who were the most enthusiastic were people who had actually edited earlier books in this space. So the very most knowledgeable people were the keenest. That was good to see.

More anon. Gotta go do some work.
