English luxury department store Fenwick has just published an interview with me about deliberate rest on their blog. I spent some time last week talking to them (Skype is a great thing), and an edited transcript went up today.

Did you know that letting your mind wander could be the most productive time you spend today? According to Alex Soojung-Kim Pang, the author of The Distraction Addiction, those periods when the mind isn’t focused are the times when the creative areas of our brain are the most active.

On a lighter note, I think this is the first time something I’ve said was illustrated with a photograph featuring toast, poached egg, Geranium & Walnut Scrub, and a variety of shower oils (Lime Basil & Mandarin, Blackberry & Bay, and Peony & Blush Suede).

True nerd that I am, I can’t but wonder, what book is she reading?

I don’t talk about baths in the interview, but I suppose I could have: Churchill took two baths a day, and kept a stenographer close by, just in case he had a brainstorm.
